Blind
Lyrics by Steve Baney

Key: Em
Style: Slow Rock
How the song was written:
I wrote this song for Father's Day. Recognizing that many worship songs are feminine, I hoped for this to be a masculine song. It uses words like blind, mess, knock, admit, self-sufficient, fail, stronger, wiser, complete, ruin, burn, fickle, guilty.
Based upon the following scripture(s):
John 3:30

The song begins softly with acoustic guitar. The band joins in part way through the first verse. Hang at the end of the pre-chorus. The chorus is the strongest part (volume-wise) of the song, but can equally be sung quietly for emphasis.

I love the message of this song. So frequently I find that my sins and struggles are caused by my selfishness and lack of focus on Christ. I think this song can describe the thoughts of any person in that we all want to be self sufficient at times and no one WANTS to fail. The world has a way of sucking us in and blurring our vision with telling us we should be anxious about this or that, that anger is the way to get things accomplished, and that we deserve what we want. God wants to give us wonderful blessings, but we are often overcome with that nagging and passive selfishness that drives our actions and thoughts. I do want to be blind to the world and rely on God's vision to guide me rather than my own!
